Section 1

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using va.golf ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and anyone who accesses or uses the Site. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Site.

va.golf is operated by a small independent team based in Virginia. References to "we," "us," or "our" refer to the va.golf team.

Section 2

Use of the Site

va.golf is a directory, booking, and community platform for golfers in Virginia. You agree to use it only for its intended purposes and in a way that complies with all applicable laws.

You may not:

• Use the site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its related systems
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the site without written permission
• Post false, misleading, or defamatory content including reviews
• Impersonate another user, person, or entity
• Interfere with the proper working of the site

We reserve the right to terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.

Section 3

Accounts & Registration

Some features of va.golf require you to create an account. When you do, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account details.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Accounts are non-transferable.

Section 4

Tee Time Bookings

va.golf facilitates tee time bookings on behalf of golf courses listed on the platform. When you book a tee time, you are entering into a direct agreement with the golf course, not with va.golf.

Cancellations and refunds are governed by the individual course's cancellation policy, which is displayed at the time of booking. va.golf does not process refunds on behalf of golf courses — please contact the course directly for refund requests.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure tee time availability is accurate, but we cannot guarantee that a slot shown as available will remain so at the time of confirmation. In the event of a double-booking or error, the golf course is responsible for resolution.

Booking fees charged by va.golf, where applicable, are non-refundable once a booking is confirmed.

Section 5

Event Registration

va.golf allows event organisers to list and manage golf tournaments and scrambles. Registration for events is subject to both these Terms and the specific event terms set by the organiser.

Cancellation and refund policies for events are set by individual event organisers and displayed during registration. va.golf processing fees are non-refundable in all cases.

va.golf is not responsible for event cancellations, changes, or no-shows by organisers. In the event of a cancellation by the organiser, refund arrangements are the responsibility of the organiser.

Section 6

User Content & Reviews

Users may submit reviews, ratings, photos, and other content ("User Content") to va.golf. By submitting User Content, you grant va.golf a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform.

You represent that your User Content is truthful, does not infringe on any third-party rights, and does not violate any laws. We reserve the right to remove any content that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these terms or our community standards.

We do not verify the accuracy of user-submitted reviews. Readers should use their own judgement when relying on user-generated content.

Section 7

Intellectual Property

The va.golf name, logo, site design, and all original content (excluding User Content and third-party content) are the intellectual property of va.golf and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without written permission.

Course listings, descriptions, and data are compiled from public sources and direct partnerships. If you believe any content infringes your rights, please contact us at [email protected].

Section 8

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

va.golf is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that course information, pricing, and availability data will always be current or accurate.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, va.golf and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to missed tee times, event no-shows, or reliance on inaccurate course data.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the site shall not exceed the amount you paid to va.golf in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email.

Your continued use of va.golf after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Contact & Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Rockingham County, Virginia.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, time on site, referral source, device type
• Log data — IP address, browser type, timestamps

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as race, religion, health data, or financial information beyond what is necessary for payment processing.

How We Use Your Information

• Golf courses and event organisers — when you make a booking or event registration, relevant details are shared with the venue
• Stripe — our payment processor. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of your payment data
• Email delivery services — for transactional and newsletter emails
• Analytics providers — anonymised/aggregated usage data only
• Law enforcement — if required by law or to protect the safety of users

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

Cookies

va.golf uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — for the following purposes:

• Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g. keeping you logged in)
• Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages are popular and how users navigate the site. We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not track you across other sites

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Booking and transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for accounting and legal purposes.

Virginia residents have additional rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), including the right to opt out of the sale of personal data and to appeal our decisions about your data rights requests.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and restricted access controls to protect your personal information.

Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI DSS compliant. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.

Children's Privacy

va.golf is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
